About

I am a Graphic, Web and User Interface Designer. I've been designing websites professionally for over ten years.

Background

Hey, I'm Bradd and I'm a Graphic, Web and User Interface Designer living in Windsor, Ontario. I'm largely self-taught, but I attended St. Clair College for a three year Graphic Design and Advertising program. There, I learned about illustration, layout, Photoshop, Illustrator, HTML/CSS, InDesign, QuarkXpress, typography, advertising, and colour theory. Drawing and creating new things has always been part of my life. From a young age I was obsessed with creating cartoon characters. As I grew older my attention shifted to comic books and super heroes. In my teenage years I became a connoisseur of fine records and t-shirt art and the bands associated with them.

Experience

I graduated in 2006 and began working at Douglas Marketing Group where I gained experience in web and print design. I left after about a year to start my own small business. After a year of working for myself I started getting lonely, so I decided to take a full time job at Wired Solutions. It's there that I further honed my web and user interface design skills. In 2010 I moved from Windsor, Ontario to Winnipeg, Manitoba to support my partner in furthering her education in fine arts. Soon after that I did a short stint at ClarkHuot, it's there that I learned a lot about creative branding and logo design in exchange for my expertise in responsive web design. From there my career took a bit of a different direction when I became the in house graphic designer, social media manager and general operations manager at Woodcock Cycle Works. After returning home to Windsor, Ontario I continued to expand my knowledge inside and outside of the design world. I also worked at City Cyclery as a sales person, technician, and ran the shop's website, marketing and social media.

Present

I currently work at the University of Windsor, I've a held a few different positions there in the last few years, all of which have been creative and web oriented. The bulk of my work in recent years has been web based and I am actively learning more about responsive and mobile design as this new medium continues to evolve. In my free time, I enjoy playing the guitar, bass and drums, and collecting and listening to vinyl records. I'm also a professional beard consultant and bicycle fanatic, so if you need advice on beard grooming or have a question about bikes, I'm your guy.
